Rev. Dr. Carol L. Green-Freeman, Senior Pastor

Dr. Green-Freeman is a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, having been licensed at the New Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Harold A. Carter Sr. in November 1997 and ordained in December 2001.Dr. Green-Freeman is a graduate of Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD, earning a Bachelor’s of Art degree in Telecommunications, is a graduate of St. Mary’s Seminary and University, Baltimore, MD earning a Master of Arts degree in Theology, is a graduate of the Howard University Divinity School, Washington, DC, earning a Doctor of Ministry Degree.

 

Dr. Green-Freeman served in the Division of Correction, State of Maryland for 12 years as an Administrative Chaplain, she was the first woman in history to ever serve as chaplain at the Metropolitan Transition Center (Formerly known as the Maryland Penitentiary) which is the oldest penal institution operating in the western world since 1811. Her last assignment was as Administrative Chaplain for the Maryland Correctional Pre-Release Systems in Jessup, Maryland.

 

Dr. Green-Freeman is currently a minister with standing in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Capital Area Region and is the Senior Pastor of the Wilson Boulevard Christian Church, Arlington, Virginia. The first African American minister appointed to serve in its, then, 96-year history. 

 

Dr. Green-Freeman is a former adjunct professor of philosophy and ethics at the Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland. 

 

She is married to Elder Thomas C. Freeman Sr. and they have two sons, Dr. Thomas C. Freeman,  Jr. and Santron T. Freeman.

 

Her ministerial thrust and theme is to Empower People for Divine Purpose through preaching and teaching the Word of God.
